EVALUATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL SITUATION IN NARTA LAGOON, VLORA, ALBANIA

Narta Lagoon is one of the biggest Lagoons in Albania. It situated southern part Vjosa River delta. Two canals northwest and southwest parts lagoon connect it to Adriatic Sea. These artificial enable water exchange process with sea during tidal flow. Vjose - area considered a Protected Landscape, so environmental monitoring important. Setting design: Water samples were taken monthly, at six evenly distributed sample stations. The study was conducted from January – December 2018. Materials methods: assessment microbial contamination performed MPN method. Total coliform, fecal streptococci tested as indicators. PH salinity physicochemical parameters analyzed. Conclusions: cleanest sampling station near contact seawater. most polluted stations are 2, 4, 6. Temperature values range 5 oC 33 August. pollution caused by an anthropogenic factor well lack appropriate cleaning strategies.
